Long story short: for about the past two years they haven't shipped about 2/3 of my pre-orders until I contact them to complain (sometimes it takes a bit of back-and-forth) and the service got worse when I tried out Prime for a month, somehow... Now they're intentionally offering bad service to force Prime on people... I only deal with BB and Walmart for the most part, unless I really don't care when I get my item or if it's too good of a deal to be worth it (like the new South Park game for $50 during Cyber Monday - a price I have yet to see anywhere else.
