I just saw a Youtube video about it. From what I've seen, basically, you just state that you don't have to do anything you don't feel like doing, and ask if you're being detained.

"License and registration please."
"Sir, I am a free citizen, I do not have to present you with my identification, I am not subject to your penal code, blah blah... am I being detained? Am I free to go? Am I free to go? Am I being detained?"

Then, you debate the definitions of literally everything in the immediate area.

"Sir, step out of the vehicle."
"I am not a sir, and this is not a vehicle! I am a person, and this is my mode of travel!"

And then you state that you are separate and apart from the legal system of the united states.

"Sir, step out of the vehicle or I will break your window and remove you."
"I am not a part of your system! I can... I am able to do anything I want with no penalty, it says it right here in the US Constitution which you clearly don't know anything about."

And then the officer breaks your window, and removes you, and you scream like a child.

"ASSAULT! HELP! HELP! ABUSE! POLICE BRUTALITY!! SOMEONE CALL THE POLICE!! AAHH"

And then you sit in jail looking like an idiot over a routine traffic stop.

Is that about how that works?

the concept of a sovereign citizen is that there is a country whose borders / perimeter are equivalent to your skin and you are the only citizen of that country. This somehow entitles you to benefit from all the social programs of the country you live in while actually being subjected only to your own laws.

the short end of the story is it doesn't work. turns out creating a new country is not an easy thing. And if it did work, the people clearly haven't thought it through very well. If a "sovereign citizen" was causing shit in my country, I'd arrest them on espionage and there would be no one to argue for their release.

You forgot that after court you can just send in the letter for your fine and write accepted for value on it and deposit it into your Treasury account for its value. Make sure it's in neon ink and put a thumbprint of blood on it as well.

The idea they usually have is that the law is a contract between an individual and the country they are in. As it's a contract you only have to follow it if you agree with it.

This is of course wrong so they they often end up being arrested and successful.
