18 y/o Indiana Marine, Jacob Dalton Stanley has been BANNED from attending his graduation and accepting his diploma with his friends because he showed up to the ceremony wearing his Marine Corps UNIFORM!!

He attended Crown Point High School on Tuesday night and unlike everyone else, he arrived in full blue dress Marine Uniform..

He graduated last December and joined the Marines and completed boot camp recently and then went home to take part in his graduation where he also attended rehearsals where he wore the traditional grad outfit too

During prep, he was told by the Principal, Chip Pettit he wouldn't be allowed to wear his uniform..but he IGNORED that warning and showed up anyway with his uniform and was promptly dismissed!!..His name was also not read during the handing out of diplomas

Chip said he was enforcing a long standing policy in enforcing a uniform dress code and are required to only wear the standard cap and gown except those with distinctions such as academic achievements or enlistment in military service wear stoles or chords over their gowns..Every student, except Jacob did just that in continuing the tradition. He said it is not intended to be disrespectful to students, parents or the military servicemen and women.

But classmates were not so happy he got the boot as Leann Tustison said it was "absolutely ridiculous. He's in the military putting his life on the line for us. It's unacceptable that he was not allowed to walk across the stage. If he wants to walk across the stage in his uniform that he worked so hard and earned, he should have the right to do that. That's his achievement".

The Marine Corps do not dictate what high schoolers can or can't wear as they don't get involved in these matters

I understand his wanting to wear the uniform, I do, I understand the pride in being a Marine and wanting to display it. I lived that, I have been there. But he showed very poor judgement in disregarding a policy. I can say with reasonable certainty that he put a stigma on his career going forward because he showed that he was willing to disregard a stated policy, and if he was willing to do that, how can he be trusted to uphold the policies of the Marine Corps? I'm not saying that he cannot overcome that, but that is not a good look for him to his future superiors.

At 18 years old, I guarantee ego had as much to do with wearing it or more than true esprit de corps, and he fucked up.
