I bought the game years ago when it was on sale and I've never had the chance to even touch it because of my enormous backlog. Just don't have the time to even consider starting it, let alone play it all the way through. I heard it's quite a time sink, but if it's worth it it's worth it right? Convince me to play it

honestly it holds up pretty well today but if you have that much trouble, the GMDX mod is really good

it's my first time playing it but I'm having more fun than a lot of modern games and it's really ambitious in how much they accomplished. the choices you make actually matter and change the outcome of things later on and the game is designed for any play style which is amazing

Yeah, literally any build will let you beat the game, and they even handle bosses well if you're a strictly non-combat build

Unless you do a swimming and environmental training build, then you're fucked lol

I got in at the ground floor and actually bought this back in 2000 when it first came out. It was as amazing back then as it still is to this day.

Easily my second favorite video game of all time (second only to Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines).

I never beat the game, but made it to China I think... I can't remember, it's been so long.

And yes, this game was awesome because of the choice system. That shit actually mattered which was incredible for the time.

This is also a stelth tag to remember that mod so I can play this game again.

yea my brother said the actual shooting mechanics havent aged very well but ill look into the GMDX mod. might pick this game up next time it's on a steam sale or w/e

yeah that's the only issue I think, the shooting is not typical but I understand why it is that way since you're meant to be somewhat stealthy

The shooting is more in line with an RPG system. You need points in proficiency for it to be on par with the mechanics of a modern shooter >_> You're aim is complete shit until you're a master rank

I always go in raw on my first playthrough to get the full experience unless it's something EXTREMELY needed (ie: mouse look mod in System Shock 1)

I've played it years ago. I got stuck on the first area and got confused as all hell on what to do, how everything works, and such. And I think I mistook an ally for an enemy and got stomped.

I'll definitely try it again one day, as I am a slightly more competent gamer now than I was a few years ago.
