I hear this all the time from many users on this site, saying this exact same thing....

.....do you believe it?

yea, message boards are kind of an early 2000s thing.

GameFAQs has two main components, the boards and the FAQs.

for the boards, Reddit is basically Message Boards 2.0, where it has better methods for filtering content, promoting "good" content, etc, whereas GameFAQs is pretty primitive by comparison.

in terms of FAQs, honestly most games these days are so simple that you don't even need one, and for the ones you would want one for, it's much better to go on Youtube or something and just watch a video or walkthrough.

I don't think the site is dying, but the boards are.

written FAQs are falling off in favor of wikis and videos. Which makes me sad. I hate videos. It's so much easier/faster/spoiler free/nonannoying to just open up a document and ctrl+F instead of skipping through a video for the 5 seconds you need.

Boards kinda cascade from there imo. I think Reddit is an even worse place when it comes to game discussion due to its formatting, but since it's able to have a strong user base because of various other subreddits, its large user base naturally draws and retains people.

Re-open LUE. Make the "Poll Of The Day" show up in the "Boards" menu. Hardly anyone goes to the Gamefaqs homepage anymore. They type gamefaqs and go directly to "Current Events", "Boards" or "My Activity"
