....their "homies?" Have any of you noticed this? Some users will gang up and attack a user who isn't their friend or they've never seen before, when they are clearly in the wrong on a subject, but will defend to the end against another user because they know the other people. I use the term friends loosely because most of the people on this site don't know what each other look like aside from some letters on a screen and a screen name that they remember

Don't you think that's what most humans would do in any similar real life scenario? That's hardly exclusive to this site.

when did i say that that was exclusive to this site only? I don't like it though, defend your friend no matter how wrong they are.

Unless my friend was saying or doing something I also found utterly reprehensible I would always defend them against a stranger. I know my friend. Fuck the stranger.

sadly too many of this site's users feel the same way as you. Their friend could say the sky was pink and they would still be defending to no end.

I dont have any homies on this website. I mean, there are people ive became friends with throughout the years on here, sorta, but no homies i'd actually go out of my way for.

i agree most of the people on this site don't even know what the other guys look like haven't met them and will never meet them but feel some strange attachment to some letters on a screen that they recognize.

I see this a lot. People here are hostile af to new people.

But yeah it does seem pretty apparent that people will defend their "friends" more than defending the right answer to a given topic.

Hey I have online friends that I feel this way about. A connection doesn't necessarily have to be physical. A connection of the mind is very much possible over the internet. Of course one day you may make it real life but even if you don't the words on a screen from someone who seemingly cares about you can help a great deal.

Yes its pretty rampant here and blatantly hypocritical at times. Especially now that the usership is dying and distilling into those cliques it magnifies their toxicity and further sways users from joining, or staying, or being constructive.
