I loved Terminator 1 and 2 but 3 was so bad it killed my interest in the series

I know they've done more movies and TV shows since then and are they any good? I don't get how they can continue to make sense considering what we know from the first three movies.

I liked Genisys, but if you didn't like T3 I doubt you'd like that one. I guess the later movies are an acquired taste....

It is nothing more than a carbon copy of the second film. The only thing noteworthy was the ending scene.

So is that about Connor and Reese fighting back?

That could be good I guess

Genisys's plot is pretty cool, I followed it the whole way so I guess I got a lot more out of the movie than those who said it was "too convoluted".

It's not good, but it's better than T3, and honestly I don't remember Salvation being that horrible, but I don't remember it being much of anything.

Yeah, for whatever the reason, I remember really enjoying that movie. I never saw the most recent Genisys. 3 was okay at best.

Not really. The sequels were definitely better than 3 but they were still inferior in every way to the first 2

Didn't Anton Yelchin play the young Kyle Reese in that one?

There are plenty of write ups of the plot online. I don't want to take 10 minutes to write up something.

Terminator Salvation is pretty decent. The fact that it takes place post-apocalypse makes it worth watching by itself. Also, it stars Christian Bale. He is just a pleasure to watch.

Yep

Salvation is honestly pretty good IMO, I definitely prefer it to 3. Genisys looked so bizarre I had no interest in watching it.

Watch the TV series.

Oh yeah, if you don't mind a cliffhanger ending that will never be resolved, this is probably the best one.

ehh I don't get how Terminator can work as a TV Show. The entire point is "Terminator wants to kill X, guys would rather he or she didn't so they stop him."

That works for a few hours but 24 episodes of it? Nah

Ugh

That sounds awful.

Didn't they learn from Star Trek Enterprise? "Factions fighting across time to control the future!" doesn't work for a TV Show backdrop. It means there's no stakes and no continuity.

"Oh no Billy just won and took over the future!"

"Oh wait now Timmy just changed time and stopped Billy, oh well."

There's no stakes. It's like when Enterprise goes "Oh no! They altered history and now Nazis took over the world!"

Uhuh.

Terminator 1, 2 and 3 (even though it was bad) worked because the film hinged on Sarah and John surviving. Not a temporal cold war.

It makes sense if you watch it and it goes more into the multiverse part of timetravel.

I try to pretend that 4 has any real connection to the first 3 movies and it's quite nice on its own.

Haven't seen the new one yet but I'm remaining positive
