I've watched too many episodes of the Eric Andre show

Atlanta used the "be right back" music for like one second and I instantly recognised it

My Immortal posted...
The worst part is that when it's awful and gets cancelled then we can't ever get an actual good Medusa in the MCU.

The problem with Medusa is that she seems like a character that translates very poorly from the page to the screen. Although I don't disagree; if the Inhumans ends up being as bad as it looks, that bodes very poorly for their future.

Poor Boltagon deserved better.

Oh I get it, because this episode basically is the Eric Andre show just a lot more on the nose about "the issues"

I just finished GLOW. Better than this season of Orange is the New Black. Not as good as Weeds Season 2. I would say this is the top quarter of Jenji Kohan seasons.

She has a writer's credit for one episode.

And still, it's not her show. Comparing GLOW to Weeds or Orange is the New Black is like comparing The X-Files to Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul.

I mean, it is her show. She's the one that pushed for it to get made. I don't really care if she's not the day-to-day showrunner. It's like saying that Wonder Woman isn't a Snyderverse film.

It's nothing like saying that at all

What you're doing is the equivalent of calling The Avengers a Kevin Feige film

did he create the characters

did he write the movie

did he direct the movie

did he star in the movie

no. producers are people who allow things to happen. they are not involved in the day-to-day, the minutiae.

Jenji Kohan is at least talented, and contributed to the show as a writer, but the show would almost certainly continue if she stopped being involved tomorrow.

Kevin Feige, much like Jenji Kohan, is very hands-on with the projects. Much like Snyder was with Wonder Woman.

I don't see how I can't call this a "Jenji Kohan" show. This all seems needlessly nitpicky.

Kevin Feige is quite literally the architect of the entire MCU. He's very hands on in all aspect so the MCU including storyboarding, casting, and production. He's not just some rich guy in a board room somewhere asking directors to go make movies for him.

Your post is very absurd.

do you call Marvel comics Joe Quesada books?

no, of course not. you talk about the author and artist. if you're talking about the heroes themselves, you talk about who created them.

the show is the creators'. the episodes are the writers' and the director's.

producers are crucial, but they don't get ownership in that way.

so Kevin Feige was a bad example because he's more involved than most.

they're still not his movies. not a single one of them.

not that movies are a perfect analog for television anyway, but still.

Except people do call eras of comics by the editors often. DiDio is blamed for many of his boneheaded decisions, for example. Levitz Era is referred to as such. The Shooter Era is largely lambasted by many since the quality across the board declined and the general company direction was poorly received.

So yeah, you can.

Executive producers are at a greater remove, though, and that's what Kohan is.

ShondaLand is a whole different animal. There's no real parallel to what she has created. Shonda Rhimes is basically the drama wing of ABC at this point.

At any rate, this argument isn't going anywhere. GLOW isn't Kohan's show, no matter how much or how little any of us believe it is.

Let us move on to more productive discussions.

Atlanta finished

Unlike anything I've watched in a while. I feel like it departed from its throughline a bit too much so the finale didn't hit like it should have. Also I thought it sometimes approached its social topics with a pretty distinct lack of subtlety so it all felt a bit on the nose. But then I guess the show was representing (a kind of) reality, so it didn't need to rely on metaphors so much.

But definitely entertaining and interesting and clever, and I like how understated Glover was in comparison to say, when he played Troy. In fact the main three guys and Vanessa were all great; Darius is terrific and I hope to see more of him when we eventually get S2, and I love Paper Boi's irritation with things, he played that very well.

Nope, I'll add it to my list. I only found out about Children of the Stones because (being a Who fan) I wanted to watch shows that inspired it or that gave an idea about the current "zeitgeist". In that way I've already watched Ace of Wands (which has a pretty creepy episode in "Peacock Pie") and Adam Adamant Lives! (and A Bit of Fry & Laurie, I guess).

for a great many reasons, you should watch it

the least of which is that Keith Stanfield is in it. also Short Term 12 and Selma.
