A group of scientist that are in the literally future land on an uncharted planet and don't use any current precautions in terms of pathogen deterrence? Ok sure. Then a person literally risks thousands of lives because of his wife? I'm sure there would be protocols to immediately remove his powers through an AI that was intelligent and could assess the situation.

As others have said, michael fassbender carries the entire film. The director is losing touch with basic common sense and how a person would react to real situations, especially people who are meant to be "trained"

It's funny because while Fassbender carries the film, his character is the reason the movies have become...er...not great. Wish they hadn't made the David character so central to everything.

yeah that's part of my problem. david is really well acted (walter too) but he gets away with way too much imo

i haven't seen it, but i've read several synopses and rants, and the one thing i don't get is are all of the AvP movies supposed to be non-canon now, or what? cuz those had aliens in modern times and even back with the Aztecs.... but then supposedly Covenant says that David engineered the alien race in the future, after man has achieved interstellar space flight. so wtf is going on?

Of course they aren't canon lol.

And it's possible that he just reverse-engineered the xenomorph from previous sources.

This was how I came out of the theater thinking too. Dude is great but I wanted to see aliens, not androids.

David got there after she was dead. He didn't watch her die. And Oram may have just been naive enough to believe that androids were all good and helpful programmed only to serve.

AvP was never canon. Predators don't exist in the actual Alien universe.

However, David only led to the creation of the Xenomorphs we're used to. There have been others before as evidenced by the Prometheus mural of an Alien queen.
