I dont give a fuck what people are saying in a song. I want to hear a catchy/interesting melody or some interesting instrumentation. For myself, poetic structure has nothing do with music. I enjoy whistling more than talking on a beat.

Am i just not listening to the right stuff? Or is rap just for people who particularly care about lyrics and beat and not really melody?

like in the first song

i dont hear or udnerstand what he is saying

all i hear is the upper synthesized note (the leading high pitch sound) and it just repeats and repeats and repeats and repeats and repeats to him talking and making a beat with his voice

it's frankly agitating. i just wnat him to shut the fuck up and i want the music to kick in, but it just never does

I don't know how you can't hear/understand him. He's talking clearly. And the beat does change during the chorus before it goes back. How is that agitating? Did you listen to the other songs?

It's just the way my brain is wired. I just dont really care about what he is saying, only the sounds and melody. i can focus on what he is saying but then it just sounds like someone talking, and i dont want to hear someone talk. I want to hear someone sing their hearts out. I want to be moved not by what he is saying, but by the pure sonic sound of what is going on

the first song sounds like someone is hitting random keys on a synthesizer. all the notes are in key, however, there is no direction to the music, it keeps repeating itself over and over and over again.

It's like the background music on the title screen of a video game. it could never end and loop forever

Do you have a music background?

I was taught piano from ages 6-16 but hated it. I never was any good because i thought it was so boring reading music and playing classical beethoven, thus i never practiced or improved.

Around 18 though i came back to music. I started to play 10 hours a day writing improv music. started banging on the keyboards and evnetually i learned how to play in most keys out of muscle memory.

i became actually pretty decent for a dude who sits at his piano alone in his house.

Im not any good and wouldnt subject CE to my stuff, but playign and improv piano is probably one of the most relaxing things in existence for me and helps tone down the anxiety

so, yes. i do have some backgroudn but nothing on the level of someone who is actually musically trained
