I miss when it was just random people posting 3 minutes videos of anything. Funny, interesting, whatever. Now I feel like everyone is just shilling for ad revenue and everything feels almost artificial or doesn't have any 'purity' anymore >___>

For example, if I wanted to find a video of someone beating a boss back then, I'd search and find a 2 minute video with no commentary showing how to do it. Now typically, if I want to look up how to beat a boss, I see a thumbnail with some face with an overexaggerated expression, sometimes with a title typed LIKE THIS!?!?! The video will have an ad, then a 30 second intro, then it'll have guy start with the phrase "What's up youtube? [Channel Name] here!" Then he'll proceed to take like 10 minutes to do something that should only take 2 minutes, and he'll overexplain everything while he probably sucks ass at the boss before finally jump cutting to the attempt he finally beat it, all while talking non-fucking-stop. Then after that, he'll have some splash screen with other dumb videos and him saying "Be sure to like comment, and subscribe! Follow me on twitter, and check out my instagram! And be sure to support me on Patreon!"

There's just so much bullshit to watch before you see the meat of anything these days >_>

Golden age was just before they removed full buffering of videos to save on bandwidth, the cheapskates.

Also I hate the new feature on mobile where if you double tap, the video fast forwards or rewinds 10 seconds.

YES! I miss that so much! It's so annoying when I want to go back to a certain part and it has to reload that part again.

I also miss when the thumbnail was actually 3 pictures instead of 1 >_>

I get both sides. If actors and other hollywood hacks get paid, why not them.

but it does get annoying when their content takes a hit because it's more profitable that way

This is why the videos I make on my channel have no commentary, a five-second intro (if any), and just get straight to the point. I get irritated when I try to look something up on Youtube and have to deal with all that fluff as well.
