Quantum of Solace showed no character growth and made it clear that they intended to leave him indefinitely as he was in the first film. It was only after that film's backlash that they had him acting like Bond for the first and only time in Skyfall. But then SPECTRE came along and he's right back to being the antihero who dodges sex, never gambles, and acts like an edgy dick for no good reason. To be more accurate, it's the closest Bond plot to real life (something similar actually happened irl). Bad writing, incomprehensibly edited action scenes, the worst Bond villain, the worst henchman, the worst Bond song, etc. The only other competition for worst Bond movie are Diamonds Are Forever, View to a Kill, or Man With a Golden Gun, but GG had Christopher Lee, View had Christopher Walken, and they all felt like Bond movies. --- Let me talk to your mother. And, yeah, the battle with Mr. Hinx is the best Bond fight since the 1970s. But it's still against Bond's character to be such a rugged and gritty individual. Bond has shown edge before. Oddly enough, Roger Moore had some of the darkest kills of the entire series ~~like casually walking away after shooting Stromberg in the stomach and testicles~~, but the character was always classy. I think it makes for a decent stand alone movie but more and more it wasn't a bond movie and the less enjoyable it got and more felt forced and I just can't really watch it now.
