Was actually a pretty strange experience. He's 87. His foot turned purple a week or so ago because his heart wasn't strong enough to pump blood all the way to his extremeties. They were going to amputate but only gave him three weeks to live after that...turns out he didn't even last that long.

It was very weird. Her grandparents live in an assisted living community and we were having a family gathering in one of the meeting rooms there. We went up to his room to see him and he died right in front of us.

Sorry to hear it. I visited with both of my grandparents on my father's side a few hours before each of their deaths, and it was a very strange and sad experience

That sucks. Hope you're all ok.

I was visiting my grandfather in the hospital. He wasn't doing well, docs were giving him less than a week. I decided to head home for a few and have dinner or whatever. As I'm getting in the car my dad calls me from the hospital room saying he just passed away.
In a way I was sad since I didn't get to be there for his last moments. But at the same time I was kind of glad I didn't have to see it happen.
