The real title that I would have preferred:

"I, the Great and HUMBLE PiOverlord, invite you to participate in my Nintendo Switch August Invitational"

What is this Nintendo Switch August Invitational? It is an event that is still in a somewhat planning stage, where we compete in a variety of Nintendo Switch games until we can crown a champion.

When: August 5th, time to be declared

What: As of now, the plan is to have a total of 24 starting participants, that will play three Nintendo Switch games: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Splatoon 2, and ARMS.

The first round will be Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with two groups of 12 racing for one hour (I will set up two locked tournaments in-game, and send the passwords to the individuals participating). At the end of the hour, the top six of each group will move onto round two.

Round two will be Splatoon 2. If you did the math, you will see that there will be 12 remaining players, enough to make up 3 teams of four. Team 1 will be made of the top 2 from each group of the MK8D round. Team 2 will be made of 3rd and fourth of each group from round 1. Team 3 will be made of the 5th and 6th place players from MK8D. Team 2 and 3 will face each other in a game mode to be determined. They will do a best of 3 set, and whoever wins the set gets a point. To be fair to team 2 for being the better team, they will only have to win 2 sets, while team 3 must win 3 sets. Whoever wins out of these two teams will then face team 1 in a similar format. Unlike the last matchup though, it will be a best of 3 sets series, therefore both teams must only win 2 sets to move on. The winner of this matchup will move on to the final round 3.

Round 3 will be ARMS. At this point, only 4 players will remain. I will randomly assign everyone a matchup. Person 1 will face person 2, and person 3 will face person 4 in a 1v1, best of 5 matchup. It is to be determined if there will be restrictions elsewhere. Once those matchups are over, the winner of person 1v2 will face the winner of person 3v4 in a final best of 5 matchup to decide the champion of the August Invitational.

Prize: ???, will be determined in July. Probably a trophy and a small-to-somewhat nice cash/giftcard/game prize.


I, the Great and HUMBLE PiOverlord will allow everyone to participate, and not only will I allow that, but I will allow suggestions or improvements to my format as well. My original idea was a Mario Kart/SSB4 mashup tournament, but there aren't too many Wii U people out there and I am pretty excited for this August Invitational.
