I think there were as many people calling for Spider-Man to be Iron Man's protege as there were people calling for Spider-Man to hook up with Black Widow.

Yeah, that is kind of funny. Part of it is because having the comics cross over and characters interact with each other has been a staple of super hero stories since at least the sixties, especially with Marvel. The old Spider-Man comics are loaded with "crossover" issues. The Marvel solo movies have also included lots of heroes in each others' movies, to great box office success. And yet for some reason people act outraged to see Iron Man taking a prominent role in a Spider-Man movie.

Honestly, what incentive does Marvel have to make a good movie? Sony is getting the rights back after this film anyway. They only agreed to let Marvel do the movie because they hoped some of that Disney magic would rub off on them. Disney's not stupid. They've got a hero who's gonna bring in money regardless, and they don't get to keep him, so a 6/10 is all they're aiming for. Why raise somebody else's kid to be a star?

It sucks, but it is what it is. Marvel's best heroes were bought off by different studios and so Disney has had to elevate the ones that were left.

Tom Holland's got 3 more movies on his contract after this film (Avengers 3, 4, and Spider-Man Homecoming 2). Marvel Studios wants this character to be a major box office draw for their ensemble films, so they're gonna do everything thing they can to make sure his solo films are great. Sony needs this Spider-Man franchise to be good because it's probably their biggest property right now. They're most likely gonna re-up on their partnership when the time comes.

Yeah. They're gonna do everything possible. Right. Let's remake The Breakfast Club and have Spider-Man as the lead. They were gonna do Titanic starring Wolverine, but then they realized that they don't have the rights to him and the tragic ending wouldn't work because he'd just regenerate anyway.

Hey, if you don't like teen comedies that's fine. But I think it's a brilliant and unique direction for the third Spider-Man movie franchise.

why isn;t Mary Jane in it

Shouldn't Gwen Stacey be first

why isn't she in it then

also Mary Jane is more recognizable

I dunno I haven't seen the movie.

Don't worry there'll be plenty of sequels for Mary Jane to pop up in.

it's just weird to me that neither of them appear to be in it.

MAry Jane supposedly does appear. Though I agree that it should be Gwen first.

Why? He met her after Mary Jane

More people know of Mary Jane because of her trilogy of movies, her cartoon appearances, and the fact that she was the canon love interest for many, many years.

Gwen may have had a sudden surge of interest because of the Emma Stone portrayal and that Spider-Gwen comic, but she is to Mary Jane Watson what Donkey Kong's Pauline is to Princess Peach.

Nah. Most movie goers only know the characters from the movies, and Emma Stone is a million times more likable than what's her name. MJ was consistently by far the worst part about the old movies. I think if Zendaya really is MJ then that can change because she's pretty cool, but as of right now only some angry comic nerds care about MJ over Gwen, and angry comic nerds are not the reason Marvel movies make so much money.

People thought Doctor Strange was going to fail.

People think Spider-Man: Homecoming will be awful.

Point is, Marvel Studios knows what they're doing. They've been doing this almost a decade. They've earned some trust.

Oh, okay. Before the first trailer came out.

Yeah, I remember now. We were all kinda like, "Who the hell are they?" I think some people were mad because there were ensemble teams they would have rather seen or because some bigger names had yet to have movies. I guess that trailer kinda gave me amnesia toward what came before it. Thanks for reminding me of that. Once the trailer was out though, I don't think anyone was still expecting it to suck.

don't worry too much about the suit, it's probably just a plot point for character development

I'm 99% sure the movie is going to be about how being a hero has nothing to do with tech and spider-man will likely save the day WITHOUT the help of technology in the final battle of some shit like that

In one trailer he fucks up and Tony takes the suit away, then he faces Vulture in a hoody and sweat pants.

Yeah. Heroes fighting out of costume is something I don't like to see. It's okay for a mid-film novelty fight, but that better not be the conclusion. It's okay to have a hero lose his mask, or voluntarily remove it if his foe already knows his identity, but people pay to see a superhero and the costume is a large part of that. I don't want to see Peter Parker and Bruce Wayne fight, I want Spider-Man and Batman.
