Considering what happens in the narrative midgame, I can just imagine the rage from people who skipped SoV drawn back in because GotHL introduced the marriage and children mechanics to the series (though much differently than how Awakening and Fates did them).

There is zero chance they would let the avatar romance Diadora, for obvious story reasons, if they really did decide to add a dumb player insert in.

Also, I would boycott the game if they introduced an avatar to it. A Genealogy remake has the potential for the best story in the series and an avatar would ruin that completely.
