It's written by the same guy who wrote Bloodsport and it's more or less a higher budget remake set in the 1920s. It's not as good, although the fight at the end is better, but it still makes me sad that movies like these can't be made today.

There are no fighters in Hollywood anymore. You take a guy who is tall and is able to act and you cut out frames during the 15 second fight scenes to make him look like he has Bruce Lee's reflexes. If he needs to deliver a kick, you hoist him up on some wires and delete them in post. Even in the most lowbrow action movies, the lead character's ability to convincingly deliver moody dialogue matters more than his ability to be convincing in a fight scene.

If Bloodsport was remade today, it'd be laughable. The rounds where extras fought extras would feel authentic, but then you'd get a Christian Bale or a Colin Farrell using their digital wires and edited frame rates to deliver the smackdown on their opponents.
