To me, what the best year in gaming would also take into account all the innovations and events in the industry that happened during that year. Not just because a few certain games came out.

If I were to choose the year 2009, for example, I wouldn't just choose it because Uncharted 2, but also because that was the year Sony turned things around with the PS3 from its bad launch in 2006.

And if I were to also choose the year 1990, for example....That was the year not only kicked off Sonic, but also the entire golden age of gaming which brought us the 16 and 32-bit wars to follow, which themselves had a lot of great innovations in gaming from all sides.

The two things are kinda related. Plus one company doesn't reflect the industry as a whole.
