Its my favorite game of all time, so yes it is.

How?

FFT's Combat system and job system are significantly better than FF6's combat system and leveling. The story is better too, but FF6 has scenes that are in the same league.

FFT is way better paced imo. While I love the game overall, FF6 kind of blows its load with a certain spoiler event and I tend to lose interest.

I found Tactics to be quite difficult near the end. And I also hated that the two ninja girls on the rooftop stage kept using Shadow Stitch to immobilise me (or so I remember happening from near twenty years ago) because they would always kill me.

I can't really argue. All four of those games are good but none of them are as good as their fans want you to believe.

Adventure of Link was better than OoT, FF7 was better than 6, Fusion was better than Super despite it's lack of glitches, and Pokemon R/B is only good for one playthrough despite expecting you to do three.

To me, the real final was 2003 vs. 1998. Those two met up way too soon in the bracket. 1997 should've advanced further as well.

I played R/B for the first time just a few years ago and enjoyed the hell out of it. I think the people who disparage it just find it harder to go back to after playing the later games in the series, but if you're a first time player like I was it's still great.

I haven't played through any of the others either. It's by no means a bad game but all the grinding and all the dungeoncrawlery makes for poor replayability.

Some people really do like dungeon crawlers for some reason but my personal metrics for a good dungeon are as follows:

1. Can I make it through without going back out the way I came in to go to an inn and heal more than once or twice?
2. Does it take a reasonable amount of time to get through once you're strong enough?

Honestly I thought the LeafGreen/FireRed remakes were much worse in some ways. For example, the layouts of the dungeons are all the same but there's a much higher encounter rate in the remakes. So, going through the same dungeons you fight a lot more Pokemon which makes them much more tedious and harder to get through since the dungeons were designed with the old encounter rate in mind. The originals were more clunky and glitchy, etc, but still much more balanced in that regard.

Super Metroid was amazing but I know so little people who played it. OoT and pokemon were played and love by almost every kid of that time

I wonder if 2017 would win?
