my main weapons (onyx blade and moonlight greatsword) does shit damage to him. my pyromancy also does shit damage to him. he 2 hit ko me with every one of his attacks if not an OHKO and his HP is pretty damn high.

should i grind till i can use lighting arrow?

I don't know if it has been patched out yet, but if you have respecs left, go mage and use pestilent mercury. It is still not easy, trying to keep him in the cloud while you stay out of it, but his damage reduction doesn't seem to help him against it. Still took me about 15 attempts, but I finally got it.

And I have to say it wasn't a fun fight, and not something I think I'll ever do again. End boss of the expansion kept kicking my ass too, but I got that old familiar rush when I finally pulled out the win. Midir, on the other hand, was "thank god it is finally over".

Oh yeah, i do have the stat requirement for it. I should get lighting arrow too but my faith is 30 and my int is 35. I dont feel like grinding 5 level all of sudden

I tried using lightning arrow, but wasn't real impressed with the damage. Upgraded chime, lightning clutch ring, 40 faith, but melee was still doing better those attempts.

Get a Lightning Longsword if you're specced for pyromancy. It's not ideal, but it'll do the business if you can get it up to +9.

Majority of the things in the DLC just take a dump all over anything but physical and lightning damage. >_>
