averagejoel 05/19/17 9:01:20 PM #14:	when you say "old school rap", how old school do you mean? are you talking early 2000s? 90s? 80s? because there's some amazing hip hop being made now I highly recommend Noname's Telefone and Ravyn Lenae's Moon Shoes - they're both heavily influenced by neo-soul Earl Sweatshirt is another favourite of mine. his mixtape Earl is awesome and his first album Doris is imo the Illmatic of the 2010s. I haven't listened as extensively to I Don't Like Shit, I Don't Go Outside but it's great too Thundercat and Esperanza Spalding are two bass players you might want to keep an eye on - they're both doing killer stuff all the time. Esperanza's Chamber Music Society is one of my favourite albums. Thundercat's Apocalypse is great too. Joanna Newsom is... I'm not sure how I would describe her. maybe alt-folk? she's obviously heavily influenced by Bjork, but her lyrics are amazing. another great group I've been listening to lately is the FOG Brass Band. they're from Montreal, led by a great trumpet player called Rebecca Hennessy. ... yeah. most of what I listen to is either hip hop or jazz.
