Nah. It gets pretty repetitive after a while. That extreme repetitiveness is why I dropped the manga so hard during the Hero License Exam Arc.

And the whole Sasuke Retrieval Arc felt so out of place tbh

It must take forever then. Even where I dropped the manga around the License Exam, he was still acting like that. He has his moments for sure, but he's still mostly the same character archetype. I feel if you don't get around to Midoriya early on you'll never get used to him as MC.

I dropped it because it seemed pretty generic and the scans were often fucked up. Maybe it got better, but I think many people are just telling themselves it's good to fill the Naruto and Bleach void.

In the world of the show/manga, 90% of people would grow up to gain a specific super power.

That makes sense though. All the villains and heroes have powers. Working out and knowing martial arts isn't going to help you out when you're going up against people who shoot fire out of their hands or have super strength. He spent his time researching all the heroes and villains instead so that he'd know their strengths and weaknesses inside and out.

Why not both? You'd know their strengths in and out, so why not have the physical condition and ability to take advantage of the ones who you can take advantage without a super power? Not everyone has Bakugo's tier of a quirk, and he still can be knocked out with a lucky punch.

It just didn't make sense to me that he could idolize heroes so much, analyze them all the time, aimed to be a hero himself, and yet he never considered trying to cover his bases.

Off the top of my head as it's been a while since I've read that arc,


-Bakugo is the generic "I hate the main character deuteragonist" just like Sasuke is to begin with
-Said deuteragonist is taken by the villain team
-The villains are already Orochimaru-esque in many ways to begin with
-Protagonists and Co are told they aren't ready
-Because of circumstances they decide to go anyway
-Protagonist promises cute girl that he will save him
-Several fights later they fail
-Some other party bails them out


The only real distinguishing factor is Bakugou is saved

Dood I hope you realize how flawed your argument is. Those incredibly minor and specific differences don't make them completely different. The fact that there are as many similarities as they were, and the fact that you knew exactly the arc I was referring to is undeniable.

But I'll humor your points


-Sasuke did indeed dislike Naruto, but if that doesn't work for you then change that with "generic deuteragonist rival." You're clearly just nitpicking at this point. You know exactly what I meant by that statement.
-Both were still captured by the villains. Period. Willingness is such a minor and insignificant disparity.
-At first the sensei (and some of the parents as well iirc) were all against the kids going. It was just Tsunade who gave them the okay due to a lack of manpower.
-I explained your last point was true.

The three minor points of mine you attempted to counter you didn't even give a viable argument for. The rest of my five points you didn;t even bother explaining because you know that you can't because it's true. The circumstances involving each was different, but the two are undeniably similar in a lot of regards. The intent of each character is different, sure. I already stated this myself a while ago. That still does not negate the incredible amount of similarities between the two.

But their goals are different, their attitudes are different, they're essentially polar opposites in many ways, their conception was different, and they're both Waynes sure, but they're still two completely different people. It's not like Owlman is just Bruce Wayne from another Earth, they're actually different people. And yet they also have many similarities. So it's actually a great analogy considering these arcs clearly have many similarities and differences.

If everything else were the same, sure. There just wouldn't be as much of a direct comparison considering how important it was that in both arcs the protagonist was trying to save his rival.
