Board 8 > What if 1991 had a pic of the SNES?

I'm a firm believer that 1991 would've performed better in not just this match against 1994, but also the previous matches that it already won.

I'm curious now, actually. Has there been a console pic included in any match of this contest thus far? I don't recall there being one in any match.

Edit: Just wanted to add that I speedrun Super Metroid, and I still pick 1991 as one of my greatest years ever. My best friend and I traded our Genesis and SNES back and forth because of 1991. That year probably singlehandedly made a generation of people into lifelong gamers.

I don't think it would matter against 1994. It might help a bit against a non-SNES year.

If the SNES release were to help 1991, it would only be because you're giving the year some of the credit for the library that was released in subsequent years; why would you do that against one of the years that actually has those games themselves?

i don't think it would have made too much of a difference. certainly less than KH2 in 2006, or Diablo 2/Pokemon Gold for 2000. first 3 Nintendo consoles are already kinda represented by their respective Mario games.

94 has like 4(FF6/DKC/Super Metroid/MMX) of the top 10 acclaimed SNES games, the rest of the top 10 are pretty evenly dispersed accross the SNES's lifespan (SMW, ALTTP, CT and SMRPG are all different years).

Im digressing here but my point is that 1994 deserves to bloody win. It's SNES's golden year

It does seem as though most people voting realize FF3 is FF6. I instantly thought of that when I saw the early results.

I just thought that most other kids in 1991 had a similar experience as I did. I've had many people tell me they also traded their Genesis/SNES because of Sonic and SMW.

I will say that on quality of games, I actually agree that Super Metroid and FF6 probably outdo SMW and Sonic 1.
