What a fucking scam. Government just trying to make money by putting more bodies in the prison system and overcharging for basic shit. Phone calls should be free in prison this day and age especially when you haven't even been convicted and basically are being held hostage till you can prove your innocence.

I'm amusing they seized all his money when he got arrested.

They charge you exorbitant amounts on everything. If you want to send an email, you have to pay for virtual stamps and there's a character limit. Snacks and food items, shit that you could stock up on at a dollar store and be like $10 can run you up to $50 easily.

One of the big things in reducing recidivism is having a good support system but we make it hard and expensive to do that to any reasonable degree for the average person. It's all a racket with a very deliberate cause, none of it good for society.

In the county jail I've been to repeatedly it was like $15 for 15 minutes to call collect. But people on the outs could also set up a thing for you to call people with at like $2.80 a 15 minute call. Needless to say I didn't get more than a call or two collect most the time to the lady friends.

That he's doing alright, his girlfriend having his phone and totaling his car within the first two weeks he was in, who's watching after his dogs and the rest of his stuff, and some guy who was stealing his peanut butter snack thing and postcards.

What did he do?

Supposedly selling drugs.

yeah, being held waiting for bail on charges that aren't even proven sucks.

had a buddy held 2 weeks without bail, family didn't even know he was in jail and couldn't get in contact with any of them because they all had phone service from the local cable company, and the payphones in the prison that only sent out collect calls only could connect to other bell lines
