I favor stouts/porters, but if I'm not in the mood usually gravitate toward wheat beers.

In fact, my favorite beer to date is Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier.

Reasonably close to mine (except swap lager and porter and put pilsner before ale). In most cases IPA is a thousand times more consistent than a stout. But a good stout is phenomenal.

Beer that you can drink

I'm less partial to IPAs, but that doesn't mean I don't have IPAs I like and will drink

Typically favor stouts in the winter and wheats in the summer

there is beer that is in double digit ABV, weakness is a weird reason to not like beer. taste is subjective so can't argue with your thoughts there.

Upwards of 'some', but I wouldn't presume to think that it is a majority reason. People have different tastes, and I can respect that.

Much like tea, I know that there is a vast number of ways such a simple thing can be prepared leading to a myriad of distinct flavors, but not everyone has the means or inclination to sample everything.

I'm not big on beer. Not so much that I'm "fuck beer", but I only drink a few a year at most so I don't really have a favorite type. Usually I just get a couple that sound interesting when the supermarket has a "build your own six-pack" thing. I remember liking the Shipyard Pumpkinhead last time, which I think was an ale so I voted ale.

I've always wondered about beer, but much like coffee, it is the bitterness that just gets me. Is it the alcohol itself that makes it really bitter, or is there a way to get rid of the aftertaste, maybe by different flavors or mixes?

I don't really want to get hooked on it or anything, but it would at least allow me to try it whenever my family or friend is like, "Let's get a drink somewhere."

I think coffee is a good comparison as I used to dislike both but now I drink them without much thought

You eventually just get used to both and once you do you do enjoy them. That said there are many different styles to beer and something like Dogfish 90 isn't going to be the same as, say, Old Rasputin. Those are both probably my favorite beers but I'm not an expert and just get whatever I find in my liquor store every now and then.

I think the easiest to get into are: Lager, Red Ale, Belgians, and Pilsners (though I thought pilsners are basically the same thing as lagers so IDK)

Fuck beer sounds delicious though

The higher % beers do have a significant alcoholic taste to it. It's not really bitter though, unless you think alcohol is bitter. Most bitterness comes from hops, which is largely independent of alcohol content. You can get some really high % beers that taste super smooth and sweet.

This is kind of a poorly constructed poll

All beers are either ale or lager; neither of those should be included on the poll. It's like asking "What kind of shape do you like?" and then listing "parallelogram", "quadrilateral", "rectangle", "square", "rhombus", "trapezoid"

I love dark beer, especially black stout. Had some honey black stout at a local brewery and it's probably my new favorite. IPAs are also great.

Everything else is okay, although I don't enjoy whiter beers too much. Still drink them though.

Much prefer hard liquor to beer, though I don't drink much of either. A pitcher of Asahi after a stressful week is pretty tops, though. Japanese beer aside, there aren't too many I've liked enough to have more than once.

A lot of common sours are bad but that's because so few brewers know how to do them correctly or are impatient.

An actual year-long aged sour is amazing, and leaps and bounds better than beers where they just add a little flavoring so it tastes like a warhead.

A good gose goes a long way.

My favorite beers tend to be wine-barrel aged and conditioned on brettanomyces, though I am also a sucker for a very good stout/milk stout. I'm usually a big fan of saisons as well.

My favorite beer ever was a saison aged in a cabaret barrel with honey, wildflowers, and done with brettanomyces. Strangest tasting drink I've ever had, but in a good way.
