Shaw used Darin's power/energy against him, how is he supposed to adapt to himself?
No. He used Havoc's energy blast and put it inside Darwin. The movie tries to justify it by stating that he can't adapt from the inside, which is so wrong.
Darwin also tried to hit Shaw, so there was some on his own energy there. ---
