I really want to know why a single standout Genesis game like Ristar couldn't make the cut while a mundane SNES JRPG somehow is considered worthy.

Breath of Fire 2 is better than Earthbound and Yoshi's Island almost made me antivote 1995.

But I agree that Ristar should be here, maybe no one made a picture for it?

Breath of Fire II likely defeats anything that isn't exclusive or Sonic on the Genesis

I agree. Breath of Fire 1 was way better than BoF 2. If a sequel can't meet the standards of the original, then it should not be considered.

95 barely had anything. Wouldn't make a difference what made it. After chrono trigger you're scraping the barrel for strong games.

Then how did it beat 1987 which had great NES and Arcade games? How is Ristar considered scraping the barrel? There were also decent games such as Popful Mail and Lords of Thunder on the Sega CD. Ogre Battle on the SNES was also original and more innovative than bland BOF2.
