Been playing it with the In Nomine expansion since they so wisely sold "EU3 Complete" without the final two expansions.
About a hundred years into a game as Castille, I've invested heavily in colonization only to discover that IN colonies don't really have a purpose--since 99% of spending is investment and each new province makes future investments 2.5% pricier, the colony would have to generate ~50 gold a year to be worthwhile. So I bought HTTT and DW, where at least I can upgrade all the buildings in the colony so that they have a purpose. And then I discovered that my save was incompatible! Just like they did with CK2, although that was more egregious as I didn't actually have to buy the new version for my saves to be broken. I love the diplomacy management and have warmed up to the technological/tactical strategy of the game. But I think now I'll just go play Solaris so they can break some of my saves there, too. >:| --- And when the hourglass has run out, eternity asks you about only one thing: whether you have lived in despair or not. ...
