So we will have a costume party at work this halloween, and this white overweight neon blue haired girl told us it was cultural apropiation to dress as a Samurai or a Shaolin monk if you are white....

I find the CA concept stupid because it segregates rather than united people, and EVEN if I believed in it, how is it cultural appropriation to drss as Japanese or Chinese warriors? you know the second and third richest countries in the world....even Japanese people say the concept is stupid and they like for us foreigners to like and use their culture

CA is another concept that's just....absurd.

On one hand they tell people they can't dress using elements of another culture and on the other hand it's ok to identify as being part of another race even if they're white. Ridiculous.

Yes.

These groups are creating problems and issues that don't exist. They make it a thing and the fact that it's getting attention is what's worrisome.

They also don't speak for any other race or culture other than their own so they cannot tell someone that they can't dress as a Japanese samurai or whatever. Who are they to say that? Who are they to speak on behalf of the Japanese? They're not Japanese; by their logic they should keep quiet as they don't belong to that culture.

Come on dude, I'm skeptical of claims of CA sometimes, but you can't honestly believe that acceptence of like race fluidity (transracial?) or whatever is even close to common among people calling out CA. Did you like see someone defending that once on reddit and assume it's a common thing?
