If you want a good murder mystery, I'd suggest either going with Agatha Christie, or if you want something more obscure, He Who Whispers by John Dickson Carr.

If you want just any suggestion, I'm going with City of Stairs by Robert Jackson Bennett, though American Elsewhere and The Troupe are both amazing too.

not really a fantasy reader. i don't like mysteries either but the book i linked was chosen because it has a lot of cool references and stuff which i kind of like
