She shot her movie producer father, Robert who was sleeping downstairs while the rest of the family was upstairs, then she outside to hide the gun and clothing before claiming a "home invader" killed him!! The family saw blood under the master bedroom door and called 911. At 6am, Brittany's younger sister called the police and said "I woke up, and i heard a g unshot and my dad is screaming. There's blood everywhere, i think he's been shot" In the background, Brittany can be heard screaming that someone had broken in and shot their father. She claimed she was at the gym and ran behind someone through the back door and toward the dock located on the creek behind their house. Brittany said she returned home and in an accusatory tone, asked why her mom left the doors "unlocked". Robert was still alive when first responders arrived and one of them kicked down the bedroom door..he suffered a gunshot wound ot the chest but died as firefighters tried to give him medical care. Chelsea Simpson, one of the other sisters arrived and accused Brittany of the murder stating her sister was unstable. A 9mm Smith & Wesson Shield Pistol was kept in the bedroom but was reported missing. A witness tipped off to the police stating they saw a young woman run to the end of a dock behind the house and that's where they found the gun when divers went in and found it. They also found the clothes that Brittany was seen wearing earlier on video and concluded she did in fact kill her father. Brittany confessed to killing him as the neighborhood has been rattled by the murder where Robert had worked in Hollywood for years as his production of "Mr Mercedes" based on a Stephen King novel is just wrapping up and is premiering in August. Brittany graduated from Wando High School and went to the University of Miami and College of Charleston where she was once a "popular girl" She was recently unemployed and hampered by a disability that her lawyer didn't want to discuss Brittany was living at the home without paying rent but did help cover costs of utility up until March when her mother, Susan wanted her evicted. If the mother was the one who wanted her evicted, wouldn't it have made more sense to kill her instead of the father? I don't get that.
