Isn't it odd that we are using WinRar in almost every computer when we have been at odds with them forever? We should have a better alternative to that by now after Rar has been dominating the market all this time, but the most popular alternative 7zip is lacking in so many areas. Its user interface doesn't come with a repair function, and it also doesn't allow % recovery record inside the compressed archive files. It also can't do custom file dates on extraction.

Even though the compression rates among Rar's competitors are sometimes marginally better than Rar, they always fail in the user interface department, and so I could never fully divorce my computers from this piece of Russian software.
