I think it's weird that women actually care this much. Yeah, don't go out looking like a slob. Over-analyzing every single article of clothing and using that to determine the worth of the guy and having so many dealbreakers? Eh.

I'm guilty of the skinny jeans on occasion but I don't care. I have a hard time finding jeans that fit me nicely all the way through and are comfortable. The t-shirt thing too, but that one doesn't even make sense. If you're wearing a t-shirt it's for comfort and ease, you're not trying to make a fashion statement. I don't do the cologne dab either, I usually just do a spritz on my chest and that's good enough.

I agree. I never give two s**** what other people wear. You could show up to dinner at a restaurant wearing swim trunks and a yellow t-shirt that says "Aliens Live In My Brain" with one sleeve cut off and I wouldn't even notice or care.

I wear kind of baggy clothes. Its annoying to feel my pants everytime I move. I could never understand the appeal of skinny jeans.

Pretty solid advice. But most of those are no-brainers if you've got a shred of fashion sense, and haven't changed much over the past decade or so at least.

Only point that's rather uninformed is the logo t-shirt one; I've got a ghostbusters tee and a blues brothers tee that have been surprisingly good conversation starters with women (she might not have meant 'logo' tee to mean 'pop culture' tee exactly, but she did say after the fact that 'women just want to see guys in a solid-color tee'). Her observation might be true for women who don't have the faintest interest in basic pop culture, but those aren't the kind of women I'm looking to attract anyway.

Nothing wrong with skinny jeans, unless you're the type that dons ultra skinny jeans to the point it starts looking like you're wearing leggings.

I don skinny jeans occasionally and they seem perfectly normal, whereas Slim fit jeans look and feel baggier. Not a big fan of those.

The jeans I have a really tight but they're by far the most comfortable thing I've ever worn. They're slightly stretchy, that's why they're so comfy. I would wear them all the time if I could

I'd say there's a difference between someone looking how to dress up nice and getting advice from people and someone who goes out of their way to police what other people wear.

I get not looking like a filthy slob, but I never understood the "dress how you want other people to see you" idea. What if that isn't you? You'll either get closer to these people and they'll see the you that is more than clothes, or they're random strangers whose opinions mean nothing

At the risk of mansplaining, this was what I commented on the video:

"I personally agree with all 21 of your points regarding my style. That said, this video has several fatal flaws.

The main one is that that's not personal style works. The assumption that you're dressing to impress someone isn't wholly invalid, but basing it on individual clothing features overlooks things like how an ensemble goes together (no outfit is just the sum of its parts) and things like confidence and body language, not to mention facial attractiveness which play a big role in how critical any person you're trying to impress it. None of the things you mentioned is a deal-breaker in the right circumstances. Also, while there are some common aesthetics, style is by nature subjective, and every single point aside from the cologne one (which is an improper application of a product) is dependent on taste.

And this leads to the second issue: the aforementioned assumption that you're aiming to impress. People dress in clothes that they enjoy and personally find aesthetically pleasing. Certainly a desire to look good to others can play a role, but there are limits to how influential that will be in most situations. Your assumption is most applicable when you are trying to make a good first impression on someone (and it should be noted that this includes things like job interviews and friends of friends and significant others' parents and so on, which you completely ignored), Ultimately what impresses someone is also highly dependent on who they are; people dress like their social group, whether they're preppy or punk or whatever, and what is appropriate for one group may well not be for another. This video assumes that your taste is shared by everyone else, and that just ain't so. That assumption undermines the entire presentation. If it were me I would have been much more careful to come across as knowingly biased and unrepresentative of a larger whole. You could say when referring to girls "I think, and a lot of my girlfriends agree..." instead of "We girls think...".This might sound less confident at a surface level, but on closer examination I think a willingness to openly refer to one's own subjectivity shows a great amount of comfort and security with oneself, which actually makes one come across as more credible than someone just talking like what they say is gospel or widely accepted.

The video title and premise would have been more accurate (albeit clunkier) if it was "21 Things Men Should NEVER Wear When Trying to Impress People Romantically Assuming They Share My Tastes"."

Pretty much agree though some entries vary depending on the audience. Like if you are single and looking to sleep with someone I can see how cartoon boxers would apply. But if you're not then who will even see your underwear then that cares?

The weakest one was probably the sandals. If your nails are well maintained I don't see an inherent problem.
