I see this a lot more these days, these "MLG" online competition gamers who take offense when games have any kind of focus on single player and try to pretend like nobody is interested in it, acting like everybody wants nothing besides serious online competitive gaming 24/7.

If you're not playing video games in a tournament for money then you might as well be playing angry birds on your Motorola razor or whatever you basic "casual" gamers use

I find most games that focus only on a single player campaign to be of much better quality than ones that also include a multiplayer mode.

I have no problem with multiplayer, but I feel like it is always just something that I do only when I am in the mood for it.

Fact is that I just like to play video games for leisure, and I always felt like the challenge of beating a tough single player game was a lot better than trying to be an elite gamer of some sort.

No that is what we call a classic gamer.

The kind of people who used to beat NES games know what that is all about, those are the hardest challenges in gaming IMO.

Never cared for online gaming. I mean don't get me wrong I don't hate it or think anything less of people who play them exclusively. But me personally I always find myself having to pause for something or other and you can't really do that when your gaming online.

My problem with most multiplayer is the competitive aspect, it means I can no longer play the way and at the pace that I want to, but instead need to find the path of least resistance between me and the goal.

That's how I feel. I mean I do enjoy a good challenge, but it is different from competitive gaming.

As you said, competitive gaming is all about finding the path of least resistance where you can't play at your own pace, you gotta play at the same pace as everyone else. I just find it a lot harder to enjoy gaming when I play games that way, I mean even if I do well the fact that I am stuck playing the game with other people or not at all makes it get really old really fast for me.
