I'm confused as to what it's used for. Well, I get that it lets you play your steam games on your TV without having to move your PC closer to your TV. But does there need to be a wire running from my network to the Link then from the Link to the TV?

I don't think I'll get one but it's on sale and I was curious about it.

As far as I can tell it's just a mini computer you can use to stream video of your games to a TV. You can already do that on Steam if you have multiple computers in your home on the same network. I don't think you need to use a wired connection.

it's just using streaming, so it'll work over wifi.

alternatively, you could achieve the same thing with a cheap little laptop. just connect it to your tv, grab a controller or wireless keyboard/mouse and game away.

BECAUSE I CAN'T FUCKEN EDIT YET.

and this way you have a laptop you can do other things with, rather than a dedicated machine that's only connected to your TV. the upside being that it only costs $50, and a laptop will cost you around $300+

It streams to the TV?

Also, I'd never get a laptop to do this cause I don't need a laptop for anything and I wouldn't ever take it anywhere.

edit: also also, why can't you edit helly? you noob!!!

Yes, unless you get it on wireless (but streaming over wireless may run into bandwidth issues. You need a network connection to stream the data, plus the HDMI connection to transmit the image.

Don't make me feel bad Kana!!!

Actually, I never knew that it was streaming. I didn't know that what the Link did was that.

Alright, so it would be best to hook one up wired to both the TV and PC. I'm not sure how well the wireless would work here. I won't get one anytime soon if that were the case cause that'd be a lot of wire I'd need.
