Poetic exageration in title, but it really does feel that way. For over a decade I've been avoiding a diagnose for ADHD because I just... Don't like the idea of it. It feels like an excuse or cop-out, you know? But I've spent most of my teen and adult life greatly under-achieving and hearing from, quite possibly, every family member and friend that I could do so much more. After many failed attempts at college and a general degradation in my life upkeep I finally decided to talk to a psych about it. We talked for about 40 minutes about my experiences and in the end he diagnosed me with ADHD Inattentive.

Prescribed low dose Ritalin initially and then bumped up to higher dosage after a two week trial. I can't tell you how happy and effective I am now even with regards to the small things like cleaning dishes and washing my clothes. I'm going back to school in the Fall and I'm very optimistic about it. I can't recommend it for everyone, but sometimes it can make all the difference.
