i actually regret not joining a fraternity in college, they seem like fun. my fiancee was in a sorority and it sounds like she had a good time, has a solid group of friends we still see, etc

Fraternities can open up connections for some people that wouldn't get them otherwise.

It's not something that ever appealed to me, but some people just like to belong to something. They like to be a member of some exclusive group.

My first roommate in college was in a frat with the biggest douchebags imaginable. They probably did some kind of shit like this

Two of my good friends were in a frat that was pretty cool and accepting to everyone. Ultimately they said they wished they would have saved their money, but it was a positive experience

They join for fun and for connections. If you're in a frat, it gives you a huge advantage in getting good internships and jobs after graduation.

I was a co-founder of my frat chapter, a professional business frat so we couldn't have a formal frat house (my uni didn't allow social frats) but we did have an informal frat house that the chapter still controls.
