I still don't like it, but I'm trying to get the World Champion as quick as I possibly can. I'm in the process of trying to win the Attack Reels. I figured out Blitzball is just a numbers game, bigger numbers usually win. However, I can't figure out how a SH of 2 can beat my goalies CA of 22. >_>

SH of 2 can't beat CA 22, not without special abilities. The highest high, 4 and lowest low, 11 is still less than the d6 variance. That is literally an impossibility, if his SH was 3 then it could be done at extreme odds, but 2... no

Just sign Brother.

This is literally all you need to do to crush every game very quickly. Against non guado teams you can even swim all teh way to your own goal then turn around and swim toward the opponent goal when you reach the other side you will be unmarked hes so fast

I wanna say they fixed that in the HD version but I may be wrong. When I was playing on the HD version they would still bug me behind the goal. Still, it's a ridiculously easy game when you can sign your own players.

Get ball, swim to the side, just because you have to deal with a blocker pass to whoever is close to the net and score. The ai does the same thing every time so it's pretty easy to play them.

they didn't, because it's what i did to win the tournament against the goers

it is a little squirrely sometimes, though, and doesn't work 100% of the time, so maybe they sort of tried fixing it

The glitch is worth it because the AI gets a little too ridiculous at some points, I remember thinking this was impossible with the glitch too

I wish all the side quests were like rikku's as it was more fitting, way too many mini games that relied on luck and other shit if you don't cheese your way through it

I didn't like Blitzball at all. I ended up following this and I was able to destroy every other team and get it over with.

1. Tidus will be the first shooter.
2. Find Wedge in Luca standing guard by the blitzball stadium
in green. (Press square to recruit for 10 games). He's your
second shooter.
3. Find Zalitz by the Luca Theater. He's a defender.
4. Find Jumaal near the Luca bar in the town square. Goalie.
5. Find Brother in your airship. Center.
6. Finally, find Ropp in the Mihen High road travel agency.

i liked blitzball a lot but im used to sports games so eh.

if i could change it id make it so ai isnt as linear, player development isnt set in stone(zuch as players get the same stat increases each level), and make it nba style shots off before the buzzer count.

Here's what I always do in early Blitzball (I just use the default team plus Wakka, no need for randos for good stats)

1. Pass to midfielder, Letty for me. Lure the enemy midfielder to a side, in my case up.
2. Pass to opposite defender, for me Jassu at LD. Break through the enemy striker if necessary, they almost always suck at tackling anyway.
3. Dribble forward and towards the side. When the defender approaches, turn away and lure them out.
4. Before the defender catches you, pass the ball to your striker waiting in the gap left by the defender following you. You can now shoot unchallanged from a position very close to the goal. You can get even closer, just beware of the second defender as they will try to intercept your striker.

If the enemy midfielder has bad AT you can skip step 1. After a while you don't need specific tactics anymore anyway because you'll have overpowered players. Tidus' Jecht Shot completely breaks any defense after a few levels. Only the Al Bhed goalie can stop that one, and even he will become easy to beat after a few more levels (Tidus levels up quickly if you use him effectively, his special shots and scoring in general net good XP).

I hated Blitzball at first, but started to like it a little more once I figured out how it worked. I never actually got "gud", though.

in my experience after a short while of playing you should be able to cream anybody without even bothering to sign the best players. i dont know about when you reach max level, i assume it matters then

I never played that far but from what I hear stats don't matter much anymore in really high levels. Even mediocre stats will suffice to beat everything if you have the right abilities. Hell, invisible shot kind of breaks the entire numbers game.

Just need the jecht shot. Win every time.
And turn off auto movement and just troll around until your at the net, then shoot.

I wouldn't keep brother around for too long. He ends up taking almost all the xp if you use him a lot in a game.

If you're going to play Blitzball a lot Brother is double bad for this reason plus he's mediocre at best on high levels. The best end-game team is pretty much the Al Bhed goalie (forgot his name), Ropp (free agent), Tidus and the rest filled up with Kilika Beasts. The Beasts are basically magikarp, they suck at first but once leveled up they absolutely kick ass.

That's why I said, "to me". Chocobo Racing wasn't that hard for me. Neither was the lightning dodging. The butterfly one did take a little while. I never got Wakka's ultimate weapon though.

At least visually Blitzball is indeed underwhelming. If you compare the match in the opening cutscenes with actual gameplay it's really a joke.

It's part of why I'm at least getting Verminion out of the way and progressio so much in both Triple Triad and Chocobo Racing. If I find minimal enjoyment in how they do it, and can knock it out in a few weeks of pacing myself, then I can and will... maybe.

It's part of why I'm at least getting Verminion out of the way and progressio so much in both Triple Triad and Chocobo Racing. If I find minimal enjoyment in how they do it, and can knock it out in a few weeks of pacing myself, then I can and will... maybe.

I seriously need to get back into Triple Triad and Chocobo Racing. Every time I sit down to play one of those, I'm always like "I really should level Monk before the expansion" or "I still don't have any crafters to 60" or "I still need to clear Creator Savage" so I'll stop and do one of those things.

Speaking of Triple Triad, I need a couple more wins for this week's tourney from players before I say "sod it" and do the rest with the easiest NPC in the room. I want to at least enter the top 20 so I get a few cards (that I may or may not have) and a larger chunk of MGP (because as we all know I need more than my current 1.7mil). <_<

I was unaware of the glitch when I first played, so I actually practiced and ended up getting good at Blitzball.. I felt silly once I discovered the glitch. >__<'

Man, these tournaments just are not having the Status Reels. =/ Oh well, I've captured almost everything at this point. XD

By the way, if you really want to get Blitzball out of the way as quickly as possible, the way to go is to reset (there's an option to do so in the Blitzball menu) after every desired reward if the next one didn't show up immediatly, then hire some players that are really good at base level for just as many games as needed to go for the next one. If you don't do that you'll have to play for a couple of league rewards you don't actually need just to reset it to the desired reward.

I have also found that if you save immediatly after the final game of a series before entering the Blitzball menu again, you can reload for different rewards. This is especially handy if you're looking for a league reward because otherwise you'd need to do the final game all over again if you didn't get what you need.

I ended up having to reset data. And immediately the Status Reels were available, so I quickly rounded my team back up, won the first game no problem, but now I'm against the Psyches, and they signed Nimrook on before I could get to him(I was on the airship when I reset, too :P) So now I can't score against them, and they just play keep-away with the ball for four minutes, then they score. So looks like I'm screwed.

Wedge in Luca Stadium starts at 17 SH. Nimrook starts at 18 CA. Should be very possible to score with Wedge, or even a good Sphere Shot from Tidus.

Ooooooh I see what I was doing wrong. The Status Reels are not a Tournament prize, they're a League prize. I finished up the current league(only had to do 3 more games, I did some league early on for practice and experience), and the prize for the next league was the Status Reels, so I'm in the process of getting those now.
