I was a little hesitant because I normally don't care for super 'weeby' games and games with in your face fanservice are also a turn off for me. Then I saw it was on sale for the Golden week sale and decided to take a chance.

I'm absolutely loving it. The combat is amazing and the story is interesting so far. I tried watching a 30 minute synopsis video of drakenguard and the original NieR and I think I kinda have a grasp on what's going on. This series makes the kingdom hearts story look like child's play though when it comes to convoluted stories.

I've already accidentally found two secret endings, T and U.

I was in your position, only I'm not really lovin' it. I mean, I'm not hating it either. It's just kinda okay. The fighting strikes me as kinda mindless. The story isn't grabbing me at all, either. I'm just now starting the second playthrough. I kinda just don't understand the hype, to be honest. It just seems like an average game :\

Increase your difficulty settings. I thought the combat was meh until I put it on hard mode. Having lock on abilities with normal mode kinda ruins the excitement.

By the way, does anything carry over to a new play though?

Yeah, I think pretty much almost everything does, except open side quests. I think I have the same level, money, and items. Different weapons though. So most things carry over.

You don't need to play the old game.

Neither have I. It's a self contained story, I guess there are just references to the older games but nothing critical to the plot

I'm about halfway through the second part and I'm clearing out the sidequests before the really big boss which I guess is where I can see a part of the story that isn't a repeat. It's still great so far though.

I'm interested in both Nier and Persona 5, but no PS4.
