I bought it on PS4 and have played it a little bit.

It's fun enough but it doesn't run so good on the PS4. I'm expecting a patch. Hopefully sooner than later.
The areas between combat floors have major slow down and almost completely freeze.
The option on the main menu to the right of "Play" caused my game to completely crash.

This game probably should have been tested for a bit longer on console anyway. I don't know how the PC version is.

Anyone else playing?

I did. And yeah, it have some serious performance issue. It's been a while since I've experienced frame rate drop like that. The long and frequent load times are a bit annoying too. And the game crashed on me when I tried to restart a level.

It's a shame because I love the concept.

I'm not too upset by it but they could have waited to release this.
There wasn't any mass hype pushing for this game to be released that I am aware of.
I'll keep playing. I am not very good though. In three attempts I couldn't get past the second part if Icarus.

1996* they are pretty serious about the year being 96. lol.

That is another reason I don't feel like Devolver and Pixel Titans have any excuse for having released a game that runs this poorly.
It's not like this a new though. Other indie games with pixel graphics have run like crap on consoles.

Nuclear Throne would crash pretty regularly when it was released on PS4.

I've never made or coded a game though, so I don't know what the problem is or how it would be fixed.

Crap, apparently.

It's less 1996 shooter and more roguelite. It's got the visual style of quake but it is anything except quake.

Yeah, if you try to play the game like Doom or Quake, you'll die pretty quick. It's easier to just bait groups of enemies in certain areas where you can mow them all down.
