Probably one of the highlights of my life. I was rejected by my top school last week for a grad program but it was my fault for only try to apply for a certain few top programs.

I have a few interviews for government research positions. Hopefully it works out, I can take some time to work, reorganize everything and try again next year, but until then I'm really happy to have my degree.

I wanted to go to grad school but I only applied to top programs so it's my fault that I got rejected in the end. I applied to a few government research positions and I passed to the second round, so I'm hoping that works out

You're better off for it. It wasn't the correct path for you, at the very least not yet.

I miss you too dude. CE was a really fun time then. I think ever since I really got into it from 2010 it was probably some of my most fun times on the internet. I still have a lot of the jeff comics saved

I just graduated college and decided to visit CE for a bit for old times sake. Glad I got to see a familiar face graduating as well, especially someone I thought was long gone from here!

Congrats dude! Hope it all goes well. If you're as good at STEM as you were trolling, you'll be good for life.

That's a pretty interesting topic. I saw a couple of presentations from PhD students with the same grant as me that worked with this, or at least related to it. Not really astrophysics turf, but very interesting still. There's probably a lot of interdisciplinary ground to break here with AI, computational intelligence and physics setting the boundaries for your optimization problems.
If you're really looking to go for a PhD, come to Sweden! We have great programs. But you'll need your master's first. Or take it here.

Oh yeah definitely. I'm not sure about the AI side because I'm really not a computer scientist but from the physics side there's still a lot to do. Orbital mechanics is still tricky and understanding a lot of the nuances are still hard. Especially for satellites because there is essentially a gravitational pull from each object that it's in a sizable radius of the satellite and a lot of it's done computationally because it's hard to solve some of it exactly/analytically.

And lol maybe. If I can't find a PhD position by March 2018 I'll look into Sweden. It seems you guys are doing much than us right now anyway
