Almost every modern day comedian has a huge hate following.

The only ones that aren't hated are maybe Kevin Hart and Bill Burr

Even Louis CK gets hated on
(they call him Louis CucK)

If the Internet existed in the 80's they'd be saying the same thing about Kinison or Carlin. There's always going to be a bunch of extremely weak people that cannot tolerate hearing anything that is different from their own views.

Comedy has always been a polarizing thing and the internet loves to circle jerk and hate mob by exaggerated liking something and not liking something with being literally the greatest thing of all time or literally the worst thing of all time.

Being a pandering hack is the only other reason people hate certain comedians. Which pandering is the opposite problem - they have views that are painfully too similar to their target audience, to the point that it is both insincere and boring comedy. That is an acceptable reason to dislike a stand-up. Stand-up gives you complete freedom to say any thought you want, it's all you, and to waste it by telling tired stereotype jokes and shouting out "HOW ARE YOU CLEEVEEELANND!" is squandering that freedom.

With some of those like Cook and Mencia they're hated because they're joke thiefs and shit like that.
Silverman is hated more as a person than a comedian for being a radical feminist to a point where she publicly lied about getting paid less than male comedians at a comedy club and then backpedaled after the club owner went public and actually told the whole story.

Out of the current big comedians, only Bill Burr is hilarious. The rest of them use stale or uninteresting jokes and stories, so it's not surprising when they recieve hate. Even Bill Burr got called out on how dull his last special was overall

but yeah the yelling thing was overboard...though it was funny at first.

I liked him. I do think his legend is amplified by his early death however.
