Cool so Blomkamp put in the initial work of setting up an idea for Alien 5. Ridley quashed it by doing his dumpster fire Alien: Covenant. And now Ridley is gonna take all the work, and eventually make a shitty Alien 5 himself based on Blomkamp's concept.

Seems to be. Alien was great, and I personally prefer it to Aliens. But man Prometheus SUCKED. Now it seems like he's looking to retcon the entire series to make up for how shitty Prometheus is and claim he had a "vision" the entire time. Fuck him.

I had actually heard it's supposed to be a retelling of the Alien 3 time period after Aliens. Is that still happening?

It sounds more like it'll more be just a sequel to Covenant that takes place in the missing time between Alien and Aliens.

I have a good feeling that as great as he did Alien, the best in the franchise he's going to ruin it now. He's gonna pull a George Lucas.
