80/80

Like lets say we have a dozen babies. Use robots that doesnt talk or make any sound to feed them, take care of them etc, and as they grow let them play together amd interact, but nobody can say or teach them any word of any existing languange today. We provide them with different objects that is for them to use like spoon or other stuff, but nobody tell them what to do with it. They have to figure a way to use it themselves except for essential life stuff like food and water.

Will that invent a whole new language, culture and stuff?

Why? When they old enough like 4 to 5 years they will start assigning an object or an activity to something, and kinda startin to agree on giving them names to be able to communiCate and such

If you raise a child without exposure to language, its innate language capabilities never develop and it becomes very difficult or impossible to really pick up any language later in life. Probably. The data is limited and it's obviously inhumane to try to test it.

If you raise a group of babies like that but together, there's a chance they would develop a sort of language of their own, but they would probably not be as naturally proficient without that exposure to linguistic input as infants.

I'm sorry, but 10,000 of ANYTHING on a PS2 would absolutely destroy your framerate. It'd be like playing chess through the mail. ~johnboy1

Interesting. But is it possible that her situation come more ,from the abuse and negect and psychological trauma?

In the experiment the child are well fed, given toys to play with, healed when sick or injured, just by robots or human staff that never allowed to speak a word and lack of real parents figure or teacher to give knowledge.

Still, thanks

If it is a group I'd assume they'd develop a way to communicate together, but it probably wouldn't be as complex as languages used by people

Yeah, that makes sense, since languange are made by process of refinement over dozens even hundreds of generation and the process continues till now.

Reasonable, thanks.

They will probably limited to grunts, gestures or whatever. The test probably would never happen and i hope it will never happen, but still a great fun to ponder about it.
