Typically with the goal, at best, of dismantling that system to reach parity between the groups. This often involvesan obsession with desirable fields (like STEM, for example) reflecting population demographics. The implication being, if the population in a field doesn't mirror the population demographics at large, there's oppression against the underrepresented groups in that field (arguing there's oppression against women in gaming because women aren't ~50% of gamers and game developers, for example). So, activists want to pressure businesses and schools in those fields to diversify their demographics. It does seem that it is used to describe people who obsess with universal parity of demographics.
