I dunno a whole lot about bottling, but it would seem to me if the dude that made the drinks could put a top on them, someone else could too.

Or barring that, maybe they even just swapped the drinks entirely.

when i overcarbonate the beer i brew, i will half-pop the caps until the CO2 cloud releases, then use this to re-seal as CO2 is continuing to rise from the bottle (to avoid O2 getting in).

Yeah, the few students that do bottle their own beer would have to coincidentally see the sign, and also be the type of person to go back to their place to open it, tamper with it, hopefully have a replacement cap, and then put it back. Then I guess wait for another random person (who they won't even fucking know) to take it and see the fruits of their prank, or would they be the type of person who would be satisfied with just tampering with it? And hopefully the prankster isn't also moving out at the end of the semester and all his stuff is packed.

And that's your main fear? I'm just saying that probability-wise, it's pretty low.
