it's like someone trying to speak among the masses of masses in a crowd of noisy people. No one is gonna hear you. In the same way, no one is gonna read your comment.

The only comments that are likely to be read by viewers are the comments at the very top (usually 11, 21, 31 etc. for most who have page limit set at 10 comments) and the very first few comments to the OP post.

Every other comment is like the sheep among the herd. No one is gonna read that long piece of essay you just spent an hour typing out. No one is gonna read that joke you just made. No one is gonna read that really crucial and important comment you posted that could have changed the direction of the topic if people did read it.


So why bother, CE? Why bother? Next time you see a topic with posts over 30 to 100 and above, don't even bother adding your own post. It's pointless. Just move on. It's a waste of time, haven't you realized that?

oh yeah, it's worse. I especially hate those discussion sites where you don't quote a comment to reply to it, your reply is just chucked underneath the comment.
What's funny is that as a result, 90% of the comments posted are all just replies to the top comment of the discussion, since everyone wants to piggyback on the prominence of the top comment being at the very top.

Stopped reading at 10 posts per page comment. I should start tagging your kind.

I feel like there is a decent chance on a smaller community like CE. But usually 50+ post threads are two people arguing amongst each other and ignoring everything else, so I do see your point.

Now people posting in anything on the front page of reddit doesn't realize the conversation moved away hours ago lol.
