I actually think tho that the game would be less frustrating if the climbing gear was easier to find. I ended up beating the game faster than people who got the game like a week before I did because I found the full climbing set super early and traveled enough to find my 2nd great fairy to get the ultra useful set upgrade.

I mean once you get the climbing gear and the set bonus, climbing seriously becomes an entirely non-issue.
