A White male gunman was shot dead by police after he opened fire on black party goers in San Diego, killing a woman and injured 7 others at at a luxury swimming pool at an apartment complex!!

Police arrived at 6:10pm when 49 y/o Peter Selis was shot dead and 8 victims were taken to hospital with several in critical condition.

He was a service technician at a Ford dealership and filed for bankruptcy in 2015 who is a father of 2 and had a step-son.

All of the 7 victims that were shot with 1 victim breaking his arm after trying to flee the chaos were African American as well as the female african american woman killed..

Peter was holding a BEER can in one hand and the gun in the other while shooting as police on helicopter saw him RELOADING.

The victims were attending a 50th birthday party hosted by someone living there as San Diego mayor Kevin Faulconer said "This is truly a horrific act of violence that took place here today. Our entire city, all of our thoughts and prayers"

3 officers started shooting at him when he pointed his semi-automatic pistol at them.

They are not ruling out a HATE CRIME attack as the investigation continues for his motive

A Witness said Peter sat by the pool during the party and that a man offered him food but that he declined. Suddenly he lifts up his shirt and reveals a gun and started shooting at the 30+ party goers. Another witness said Peter SMIRKED as he was shooting them.

They said the shooter was relaxed and didn't show any emotion as witnesses said it was a war zone as Amit Godbole said there were 3 or 4 shots and a pause and then more shots.

22 y/o Amberjot Riat and 20 y/o Kaela Wong were sitting at the jacuzzi and saw him unloading on the party goers and jumped over a wall and heard him say "you can either leave or you can stay here and die"

Do you think this was a racially motivated shooting?.

Only black people being injured makes it seem like a race crime, but the "you can stay here or you can die" quote gets me thinking this guy had a death wish and he didn't care who he was shooting.

There's no real evidence to suggest any racist motivations behind it or not.

If he just open fired on a random party where all/most of the party-goers happen to be black, he could just be a homicidal maniac. And it could've been any group of people he fired on.

With that said, "hate crime" in general needs to go away. Too many people focus on the race or whatever of the victim, and not enough on the tragedy itself. And it also hurts the precedent that people are treated equally in the eyes of the law(which obviously isn't the case, anyways).
