What happens after Adrian says "no Rocky don't fight" and the promoters tell Rocky to fight? And who is his opponent? What the hell is this movie with the stupid robot toy thing that's like a giant ROB mixed with ET?
What even is this movie. Who does he fight and does he win and is there a training montage or not. Always thought this movie was so weird. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Rocky was injured following the Ivan Drago fight. In Rocky 5 he is retired from boxing and is managing Mick's old gym. A young fighter named Tommy Gunn comes to the gym to learn how to box from Rocky. Rocky is able to quickly get him the title shot, but all the reporters love Rocky too much to give Tommy the respect Tommy believes he is owed.
So the promoter based on Don King is trying to get a bout between Tommy Gunn and Rocky. After much disrespect Rocky is willing to fight Tommy... but not in the boxing ring, instead in a street fight! Also Rocky's money was mismanaged so they are poor, Rocky's kid wants to have the attention Tommy is given so lots of whining and shit from him. So there are training montages but not rocky being the one trained. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

DAmn. The dude even looks like a tool yet I never noticed him in the movie. Street fight thing sounds dumb... so what happens, what's the ending shot of the movie, how did the series end before Rocky 6 came along?

Rocky trains that one dude. Dude makes it big. The Don King look alike pits him against Rocky for a fight. Dude comes to taunt Rocky and pushes it to far. They street fight.

The street fight is pretty back and forth. It is the Rocky I have watched the least so I don't remember it nearly as well as other Rocky's, but I do remember Rocky giving Tommy a suplex on concrete that looked awesome but the "boxing" part of the street fight was bad. Rocky knocks out Tommy as he slumps down. He then turns his eyes onto the Don King wannabe, Don King says "touch me and I'll sue" with a Cheshire smile and then Rocky upper cuts him, sends him flying into the air and then he lands on a car. Rocky Jr. is then proud of his dad getting in a street fight so it ends with a family shot of Rocky, Adrian and Rocky Jr.
I think. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

That's just depressingly bad. It's small consolation that Stallone apologized for this movie or whatever. Still no excuse.
Well at least we had Rocky Balboa. I actually kinda liked Rocky 6 all things considered, which was doing the whole "pay homage semi remake the original" that movies were doing (and still are doing as evinced by star wars 7) Still haven't watched Rocky 7 but just got the movie so. --- ... I think dude hit Paulie and that's what triggered the street fight. Like he was trying to smooth it over. Dude hits him, and Rocky is all like why don't you try to hit someone like me or some bullshit.

In Rocky Balboa (6), Rocky is still poor, Adrian has passed away, Rock's son now works in the corporate world. Rocky strikes up a romantic relationship with Marie, a girl from the neighbor from back in the day. Rocky gets pitted against a current world champion in an exhibition match, Mason "The Line" Dixon. Rocky doesn't win, but "goes the distance" proving at his age he can still go the distance. The one thing RB ignores is Rocky's brain damage that is established in Rocky V lmao ... Most got the gist.
Rocky retires and manages gym. Rocky trains Tommy. Rocky manages Tommy and starts treating him like family. Rocky tells him he's not ready for a title fight and to wait. Tommy leaves rocky for another promoter because he felt he was ready. Rocky feels betrayed but still roots for Tommy. Tommy wins title. Reporters talk mad shit about him being an illegitimate champ as he he never beat rocky. Tommy goes to a restaurant and talks shit and attacks people til a steet fight ensues. It was awful and right up there with creed in terms of fans of the series should pretend it never happened. --- Give me your tired, your poor,Your masses yearning to breathe free,The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.Send these, the homeless, tempest tossed, to me. ... I love how with everyone's description of the ending everyone forgets the Rocky 1-5 montage with some song playing, that was the worst part.

You have heard from bad people or people that weren't really rocky fans. It might stand alone as a decent flick but was a shitty rocky movie. Me and all my friends went in costume. It was like a slap in the face and a spit in the eye. We were about 75-25 on it being awful (with me walking out) and after a re-watch we got that number up to a hundred percent on it being awful. --- Give me your tired, your poor,Your masses yearning to breathe free,The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.Send these, the homeless, tempest tossed, to me. ... the only thing I remember about that movie was the fight, Rocky's son being older for some reason, and Rocky not knowing that his statue was in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art ("Urrr I didn't know what this building was. lol")
